Roman Baths winter tickets from £23.50 for an adult on a weekday, £26.50 in the week before Christmas. Closed 25 and 26 December; torches lit about 4pm.
The Roman Baths stay open all winter, closing only on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. The best time to go in December is the last hour of daylight: the torches round the Great Bath are lit at about 4pm in winter, so a 3.30pm entry gets you the steam and the flames. Tickets are cheaper from November than in the summer, then go up again for the week before Christmas.

- Adult tickets 1 November to 18 December: £23.50 weekdays, £26.50 weekends, booked in advance. 19 to 24 December: £26.50 and £29.
- B&NES residents with a Discovery Card get in free, and £1 tickets are available to people on Universal Credit, Pension Credit or ESA.
Winter ticket prices
The Roman Baths publish prices by date on their tickets page. These are advance prices; the Baths say tickets bought on the day cost £2 more, and bank holiday prices “may vary”.

The December prices page shows only the 19 to 24 December band so far. Prices for 27 December to early January are not yet on the site.
Free and cheap entry:
- Discovery Card holders, which means residents of Bath and North East Somerset who have applied for the card, get in free.
- Full-time students at Bath Spa University, the University of Bath and Bath College get in free with student ID.
- £1 tickets are available every day, across all time slots, to UK visitors receiving Universal Credit, Pension Credit or Employment Support Allowance.
- A carer or companion comes free with a ticket holder who needs one, and Blue Peter badge holders get in free with a paying adult.
- Child tickets are priced from age 6; check with the Baths about under-6s.
Guided tours cost £8 a person on top of admission, hourly from the Great Bath between 10am and 3pm, for up to 16 people, and free for under-6s. Private tours for up to 10 are £80 at 11am and 3pm.
Opening hours over Christmas
The Roman Baths’ visit page currently gives autumn hours of 9am to 6pm, last entry 5pm, until 31 October, and says the Baths are “open every day except Christmas Day and Boxing Day”. The winter and festive hours for 2026 are not published yet.

Christmas at the Baths: what they did last year
The Baths have not announced their 2026 Christmas programme. Their winter news story from 20 November 2025 described what ran last December, which gives a fair idea of what to expect:
- A pop-up bar on the Great Bath serving mulled wine and hot chocolate every afternoon of the Christmas Market and on the festive weekends.
- “Winter Warmer” choir sessions beside the Great Bath on four evenings the week before Christmas, new last year.
- A Saturnalia spotting trail for children, following Hoot the Owl round the museum, free with admission.
- Drop-in Georgian Christmas craft sessions on three days before Christmas, included in admission.
- A Roman Baths chalet at the Christmas Market on York Street.
Whether each of those returns in 2026 is not yet confirmed.
Evenings: silent discos
The Roman Baths run silent discos for over-18s in the Reception Hall on selected Friday nights from 6 November 2026 to 5 February 2027, with a welcome drink by the Great Bath. Tickets are £25, or £212.50 for ten, and are non-refundable. The event page shows the earlier session on 6 November already sold out, with a later session from 9.45pm to 12.45am still listed.
Christmas dining at the Pump Room
The Pump Room next door, run by Searcys, has a Christmas Buffet on Thursday 26 November and a Christmas Dinner Dance on Friday 4 December, both 7pm to 12.30am, and Christmas evening dining from Sunday 20 to Wednesday 23 December, tables from 6.45pm, with a resident pianist; the menu is “to be confirmed”. Practical points
- Address: Abbey Church Yard, BA1 1LZ, less than ten minutes’ walk from Bath Spa station.
- Bags: backpacks up to 30 litres only; no luggage, no food, and no drinks except water in a sealed bottle. There is no luggage storage on site.
- Busy days: the Christmas Market, 26 November to 13 December, brings the biggest crowds of the year to the streets outside. A weekday booking is cheaper.
