Bath's Remembrance Sunday is 8 November 2026. Wreath laying at 10.30am, parade at 1.30pm, Abbey service at 2pm, plus the road closures the council has not published yet.

Remembrance Sunday 2026 falls on Sunday 8 November, and Bath marks it in two separate places at two separate times of day. The morning belongs to Royal Victoria Park, the afternoon to the city centre and the Abbey. Bath and North East Somerset Council has published all five 2026 dates on its own events calendar, which is more than most councils manage this early.

What it has not published is the road closure order. Here is what is confirmed, what the times actually are, and what you should expect on the roads based on last year’s order.

The five confirmed 2026 dates

Every entry below is listed on the council’s events calendar, checked on 6 September 2026. The parade and the services are organised by the Bath British Legion, with the council providing traffic management.

  • Sunday 1 November, 1.45pm to 2.15pm. Bath Field of Remembrance, Abbey Church Yard. A short service around the wooden cross a week before Remembrance Sunday.
  • Sunday 8 November, 10.30am to 11.15am. Wreath laying at the War Memorial in Royal Victoria Park.
  • Sunday 8 November, 1.30pm to 2pm. The Remembrance Parade through Bath city centre.
  • Sunday 8 November, 2pm to 3pm. The Remembrance Service at Bath Abbey.
  • Wednesday 11 November, 10.50am to 11.20am. The Armistice Day silence, held outside the Abbey doors, with a wreath laying at the Royal Victoria Park memorial the same morning.

One caution on the morning. The council’s own listings are not consistent about it: the wreath laying entry gives 10.30am to 11.15am, while the summary text attached to the parade entry describes the morning ceremony as running 10.45am to 11.30am. The eleven o’clock silence is the fixed point in both. Arrive at Royal Victoria Park by 10.30am and you cannot go wrong.

The afternoon is a short window, not an afternoon

The parade is scheduled for half an hour, 1.30pm to 2pm, and the Abbey service begins the moment it ends. If you want to watch the march past and then get into the Abbey, you are choosing between the two unless you are already in place. The Abbey service is the longer event at a full hour.

Road closures: last year’s order, not this year’s

No 2026 traffic order for the Bath parade has been published yet. The council’s current Remembrance Day Parade order is reference THTSC960 and covers 9 November 2025. It is still the best guide to which streets go, because the route does not move.

Under the 2025 order the closures were:

  • Cheap Street, Westgate Street and Saw Close, full length
  • Upper Borough Walls, from the Parsonage Lane junction to Northgate Street
  • High Street and Orange Grove, full length
  • Bridge Street and Northgate Street, full length
  • Queen’s Parade and Queens Parade Place, full length
  • Pierrepont Street, northbound only, part of its length
  • Royal Avenue, full length, except authorised military vehicles

Times varied by road, with the earliest closure at 06:00 and the latest reopening at 16:00 or 17:00. That is a long day for Cheap Street and Westgate Street, and it is worth noting the closures start hours before the 1.30pm parade.

Keynsham has its own parade and its own order. The most recent published one, reference THTSC915, covered Sunday 10 November 2024 and shut the High Street between Station Road and Poundland, Charlton Road from the Ashton Way and Tesco roundabout, Bath Hill between Temple Street and Avon Mill Lane, and Temple Street between High Street and Rock Road, all from 09:00 to 11:30. No 2026 Keynsham order has appeared either.

Both orders normally go up in late October. This page is updated when they do.

Parking and getting in

Bus routes through Cheap Street and Westgate Street are diverted on the day, and the city centre car parks that feed off those streets become awkward from mid-morning. Royal Victoria Park is the sensible option for the morning wreath laying, and it is one of the sites with a free first hour, which our parking in Bath page sets out in full. The villages: no 2026 list yet

B&NES normally publishes a district-wide list naming every service in Keynsham, Midsomer Norton, Radstock, Paulton, Saltford, Westfield, Twerton, Combe Down and the smaller parishes. That list had not appeared for 2026 when this page was written, and the version search engines still return is from November 2023. Times in the villages move by a few minutes year to year, so we are not repeating the old ones here. Check with the parish church or the local Royal British Legion branch, or come back to this page in late October.
