Bath's big New Year's Eve 2026 ticket is the Pump Room ball, 7pm to 1am, from £105. No public fireworks are announced; trains may finish early on 31 December.

No public New Year’s Eve fireworks display or street party has been announced for Bath in 2026. So far the city’s New Year is ticketed and indoors, and the one big event already on sale is the black-tie ball at the Pump Room and Roman Baths on Thursday 31 December 2026. If you are coming in by train, the more important fact is that services on some routes finish early on New Year’s Eve.

The Pump Room and Roman Baths ball

Searcys, who run the Pump Room, list a Black-Tie New Year’s Eve Ball for Thursday 31 December, 7pm to 1am. The evening starts with drinks and canapés around the torchlit Great Bath, then splits in two for dinner before joining up for the party:

  • Seated dinner in the Pump Room, £210 a person: four courses with wine, on shared tables of ten if your group is smaller.
  • Standing buffet on the Terrace and Reception Hall, £105 a person.

After dinner there is a live band and DJ in the Pump Room, a second DJ on the Terrace, blackjack and roulette tables and a photo booth. It is over-18s only, tickets are non-refundable (name changes are possible), and menu choices are made when you book. One thing to check before you pay. The page’s title and its listing say 2026, and 31 December 2026 is indeed a Thursday, but the body text still talks about ringing in “2026”. It is last year’s copy with a new date, so ask whether the prices and details are this year’s before booking.

Earlier in the day

  • Pantomime. Beauty and the Beast at the Theatre Royal plays twice on New Year’s Eve, at 11am and 3pm, and there is no performance on New Year’s Day. More on our Bath pantomime page.
  • The Roman Baths. Last year they were open 9am to 6pm on New Year’s Eve and 10am to 6pm on New Year’s Day, according to their own visit page in January 2026. The 2026 hours are not published yet; see our Roman Baths at Christmas page.
  • Bath on Ice runs until 3 January 2027, but the rink has not said whether it opens on 31 December or 1 January. See Bath on Ice.

Getting home: trains and the bank holiday

National Rail’s Christmas and New Year summary for 2026 to 2027 says that on Thursday 31 December, train services on some routes will finish earlier than normal, and tells passengers not to assume the normal timetable. The late-night extra trains it mentions after midnight are on London routes only. Each train company’s festive timetable is added from early October onwards.

For Bath Spa, that means GWR. Its Christmas engineering page had not been updated for 2026 when we checked on 25 September; it still said details for “Christmas 2025” were yet to be finalised. New Year’s Day, Friday 1 January 2027, is a bank holiday; check your journey before travelling that day as well.

Still to be confirmed

  • GWR’s New Year’s Eve last trains from Bath Spa, and any engineering work over New Year (expected from October onwards on National Rail’s summary).
  • Whether any Bath pub, club or venue runs a public countdown or fireworks. Komedia and Thermae Bath Spa had published nothing for New Year’s Eve 2026 when we checked; this page will add events as they are announced.

  • Roman Baths and Bath on Ice opening on 31 December and 1 January.
